How to make a wooden track more exciting

The problem with a wooden train set like the one pictured on the right is you have to keep setting it up and taking it down because there's just not enough room to leave it up, especially if one's bedroom is already full of toys.
So, a £3.00 bit of chipboard from a local store and 3 hours on a sunday can deliver spectacular results (if you are a 2 and a half year old at any rate).
Step 1
Get a piece of chipboard, design a track layout and use some wood glue to affix the track to the board.
*Remember* the glue is stronger that the wood itself (allegedly) so you may want to consider that the track might not ever come off again.
Step 2
Once the glue has dried, get a jigsaw and cut round the edges of the board for that authentic 'railway on an island' look.
Step 3
The track is going to slide out from under the bed for a full-day of use. These handy little feet allow smooth gliding and only need you to mess up/bruise the bones on one hand to get them into the chipboard.
Step 4
Trees, buildings and other exciting things are placed and glued on the board. Notice a runway in the top right hand corner and at least two authentic lakes.
Step 5
One of the earlier photos (step 1) is placed in a paint program and an artist's impression is created. Some of the advanced technical drawing techniques have been removed from this picture for clarity.
Step 6
After picasso-like effort, the result is truly a marvel.
Step 6a
The lake in the bottom left sports classic rowing boats.
Step 6b
In the top right hand portion of the picture, Concorde eases effortlessy down a runway.
Step 7
Some young man is going to be very happy with this, I just know it.
